Do you need to integrate your engineering data into CATIA and/or ENOVIA, either for Boeing’s 787 program, or for any other project?
Do you have the resources to carry out this work on time?
Do you need the cost of licenses for CATIA and ENOVIA for any other reason?
Do you want to spend the considerable time and money required to train staff to do the work, even though they may need the skills very infrequently and it may make them more attractive to other employers?
As set out in the Boeing Supplier Technical Guide (D6-54487), all Suppliers and Partners to the Boeing 787 program need to be able to input their engineering data in ENOVIA. This includes:
- All Line Replaceable Units (LRU) and Line Maintenance Items (LMI) that have to be represented by CATIA Model Based Definition (MBD) released and instanced in ENOVIA LCA
- Structural Repair Data
- Source data for design changes that require a Boeing aircraft Service Bulletin
- All repairable units and assemblies designed by the airframe, engine or component manufacturer.
How can CDG help you?
CDG can deliver the correct information direct into Boeing’s systems, in the right format, on time, without the cost and risks involved in completing this work in-house.
CDG can provide you with a full data integration service from your source data, engineering models and/or drawings into CATIA and/or ENOVIA. CDG can then provide you with full CATIA and/or ENOVIA support throughout the life-cycle of the product.
This could save you the cost of the CATIA and ENOVIA licenses.
Why use CDG for this work?
As the major technical documentation supplier to the Boeing 787 program, we have the relevant software licenses and engineers trained to carry out this type of work. This means you save time and money in the following ways:
- Save the time and cost of obtaining and maintaining CATIA and ENOVIA licenses
- Avoid the cost of additional hardware and bandwidth, as well as the IT integration time
- Avoid the cost and time involved in recruiting and training new staff
- Avoid having to train existing staff, only for them to need re-training when they next need the skills, or to leave so you have to start over again. The mandatory Boeing/Dassault training takes place in Canada/USA and takes two weeks (and not everyone passes first time)
- Avoid the problem of having to get those who have been trained, ‘up to speed’ with using the software. It took our 14 graduate engineers several months to become really proficient, even with a flow of work.
- Avoid the problems and delays associated with getting everything right to the standards Boeing require.
Transferring this work to CDG will ensure that your work is completed promptly and efficiently, so enhancing your supplier reputation.
Our unmatched knowledge of Boeing systems and our contacts within Boeing make us the obvious choice to carry out this work on your behalf.
CDG has a full Boeing 787 data export license allowing it total and full access to all Boeing 787 data that resides in ENOVIA.

What are ENOVIA, CATIA and DELMIA?
ENOVIA is an object-oriented database management software application that manages product definition data, processes, configuration management, and resources generated throughout the life-cycle of a product. ENOVIA is tightly linked with CATIA and together they offer a single, integrated environment for the entire product life-cycle.
CATIA - Computer-Aided Three-Dimensional Interactive Application - is a computer-aided-design/engineering software system that enables engineers to digitally design and manipulate a product, its components, and their relationships in three dimensions. Boeing has used CATIA since 1986 and is one of the largest users in the world. The demonstrated ability of CATIA to support a broad set of Boeing requirements in an integrated fashion led to its selection as a company-wide standard.
DELMIA - Digital Enterprise Lean Manufacturing Interactive Application - is a tool that is used for computer-aided process planning and engineering solutions. It enables companies to achieve lean manufacturing from the planning/conceptual stage of a project. DELMIA can be used for simulation and monitoring of manufacturing processes, to shop floor operations such as capacity planning, implementation, monitoring and sign off.
These three products are developed by Dassault Systems and marketed worldwide by IBM.
ENOVIA, CATIA, DELMIA and Boeing
The use of ENOVIA, CATIA and DELMIA on the 787 program indicates the level of benefit Boeing expects to realize from applying ENOVIA, CATIA and DELMIA as company-wide standards.
CATIA and ENOVIA allow design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance engineers to work within a consistent digital mock-up environment. They ensure a standard approach to specifications, engineering rules, operational parameters and simulation results - all of which will support affordable 787 developments. In addition, ENOVIA will provide the electronic database needed to develop advanced 787 support concepts that promise to reduce 787 life-cycle costs.
